Why rubies?
- In the 13th century the ruby was known as the “king of gems.”
- To some it was a representation of the sun.
- To others it represented integrity, devotion, happiness, healing, courage, generosity, inspiration, and prosperity.
- Rubies were often ground into a fine powder and placed on the tongue because it was believed by some ancient cultures to cure blood diseases, stop bleeding, ensure good health, and bring peace.
- Warriors would wear rubies into battle because of its protective qualities. Rubies were believed to shine through clothing.
- On a spiritual level, rubies were believed to banish evil thought.
- On a scale of 1-10 rubies are a 9 on the hardest scales, which is ironic because they are composed of the two softest elements: aluminum and oxygen.
- Rubies are referred to nature’s perfect imperfection.
